巴氏地图龟的雌龟具有两种头型：普通型和巨颚型。巨颚型雌龟的头部宽度可达雄龟的3倍，专门取食大型螺类。该物种由Carr和Marchand于1942年描述。
形态特征
最大直甲长：雄性13.0 cm，雌性32.7 cm（巨颚型雌龟可达更大）。背甲灰色至褐色，具黄色网状或线状纹路，中央具纵脊。头部具黄色斑纹，雌龟头部巨大，颚部强健。
生态习性
栖息于清澈的河流及溪流，偏好沙质或砾石底质。日行性，喜晒背。主要以水生昆虫、软体动物为食，雌龟因头部巨大可捕食大型螺类。繁殖期春末至夏初，产卵于沙质河岸。
